Friends I've never met

In the past few weeks I've averaged about one new friend I've never met per week! At this rate I may soon have more friends I've never met...than friends that I have met - thanks to blogging :)

I'm an early morning person (that's my favorite time of day!) so that eliminates a lot of up close & personal interaction w/ many people right there. God & my husband are among the few who are willing to chat w/ me at that time - & I actually like it that way :) But - with "the world at my fingertips" and the ability to allow people to see inside my heart & mind using those same fingertips - w/o necessarily having to see me(!) at that hour (picture pj's, coffee, no shower, no make-up ... ok - that's enough ... don't scare yourself!) - & that I must do one of the things I enjoy most (write!) in order to communicate w/ them (somehow wrapping/writing words around my thoughts & things I wonder, etc. to help others understand what's on my mind gives me a better understanding of it too in the process) makes these friendships special in an extra-special sort of way that's hard to explain - but I'm trying hard here to explain it .... can you tell? :)

And - how is it that in just a short time I can feel like I know some people "here" SO much better than people I've seen for years on a regular basis - & hardly know!?

I don't know... but with friends like this - that I've never met - it seems perhaps I was born for such a time as this - despite how much I'd love to meet them! :)

P.S. I have one friend here who - for the longest time - I thought I'd never met -- only to eventually figure out that she is actually one of those people I see on regular basis but didn't really feel like I knew all that well - but who knew ...that I actually knew her better than even I knew ?! :)

I DO know what you mean! I didn't even know what "blogging" was a month ago. Then my daughter began a "blog" and talked me into it....and "Wa-La"....
You DO truly feel you get to "know" people....I wonder if NOT being able to physically see or hear people helps us to truly "see" them.....Sort of like sitting around a campfire late into the night....not being able to see each other very well brings about a slightly deeper conversation than would ordinarily happen....we drop our defenses momentarily...

P.S. I LOVE your P.S. "...One of those people I see on a regular basis but didn't feel like I 'knew'....-but who 'knew'...that I actually 'knew' her better than even I 'knew'?!:)"......GREAT

Good campfire analogy, Mug!

Yes, I agree. I have marveled a lot lately at my "blog" friendships... so I especially enjoyed this post. I would welcome any of my new blog friends into my home in Charlotte! Even to stay in the guest bedroom! And a few months ago I would have thought that idea scary-- as if I would definately be inviting a psychopathic killer into my home! But, it's hard indeed to know what to make of it all. I definitely feel my spiritual and creative life has been enriched not so much through MY blog, but through the other blogs to which I have been led... I thought it would have been the other way around. Which is ridiculous. I cannot enrich MYSELF. I must be enriched my others and by the Word and the Holy Spirit.... amazing world this blogging. God is here, too!

I know exactly what you mean. I'm at home most hours of the day and through blogging I've met some very interesting people.

I LOVE the "for such a time as this" quote used. I think we all really enjoy having been blessed by our online friends. I count you as one of my blessings!

I enjoy getting to know you through your blog. I like your spiritual insight and I like reading and seeing what it is like in your area.

I was gone to Six Flags in the poooooring rain yesterday. Call me crazy.

Anyhow - when we got home I was so pleased to see comments from those who knew this post is about you! :)

I completely agree with everyone here, it's comforting to know that people "out there" think and feel the same way we do, and we can make new connections.
So many of us "discuss" online how we like the satisfaction of growing our own food, we fear the current economic troubles, we miss those who have left us, and so much more!
We all have more in common than that which makes us different.
And sometimes a quick nod from a friend gives us a lift. Thanks for your notes, and I hope you have a great day!
