What if your history hurts?/What bro't healing? (TROMS Pt 6)

For this assignment, Holley begins with this first question but skillfully encouarges us to shift our focus from the negative to the positive by answering the following one:

What if your history hurts?

One BIG "OUCH - that ReAlLy Hurt!" comes right to mind. I have only ever been willing to share about it on a need to know basis - (ex. I sense someone is going thru' what I went thru & needs to know that God tranformed my misery into ministry "for such a time as this"). This "wound" involved the need for me to forgive someone else in order for it to heal - which I can honestly say I have done - & I've moved on.

There are other situations in which I (numerous. daily. personal. choices.) caused pain (wounded!). Situations in which I wish I could go back & react &/or respond differently. I did share some of that here. This involved the need to forgive myself & accept God's forgiveness. As a result, I can attest to the fact (it's one of the very few things I know for sure!) that it's MUCH easier to forgive someone else than it is to forgive myself. Not sure why that is. It just is.

Q. What has helped bring healing to your history?

A. I must sound like a broken record here, but the answer to this question is the (VeRy) short summary of my story. The answer is essentially the same answer to a previous question, "What would you edit?" :

Hebrews 10(NIV): ....v4 because by one sacrifice he has made perfect forever those who are being made holy.

....He died to do what I was dying to do! He edited every bit(!) of my story that I would have loved to edit out myself if I could (& probably more!). I shudder to think of all the red (blood!) my story required in order to make me perfect forever! The transfusion was transforming - to the point that when I received it, I stopped dying & started really living (talk about healing!) .... & my story was no longer even about me anymore! It's all about Him now (even when I tend to forget that!) tho' it's still personal because it's shared from my unique vantage point.

5Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners—of whom I am the worst. 16But for that very reason I was shown mercy so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display his unlimited patience as an example for those who would believe on him and receive eternal life. 17Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory for ever and ever. Amen.

I'm so, so sorry for your loss!

I know what you mean about finding it hard to forgive yourself; I'm like that, too.
