New Dining Room Suite (kinda) under $20

A while back I saw a distressed antique black hutch at Scattering Lupine's that I really liked - SOoo I gave mine a makeover w/ a similar but slightly different look - for the price of one small can of paint (aprx $8), a paintbrush & some elbow grease to distress it. I also painted the light sconces on the wall & the base & legs on our table, & the silverware box on the table. Some of that I used spray paint for. I feel like a got a whole new dining room suite & it was SO quick & easy (started yesterday - finished today! ... AND - the price was right :)

here's a before pic of the hutch

WHOA! You did a great job on the distressing part! I've never been able to do that very well... on purpose anyway :)

I've been cogitating putting some coats of paint on a few things, but can't bring myself to set up outside and paint in the cold. How did you manage it in New England?

And NICE touch on the sconces. I was actually eyeing those in the photo before I read that they were part of your dining room makeover.

I like the color on your walls, too. Very cozy!

Hi Lupine. I should thank you for the inspiration! Can't tell you how many times I've been inspired at your end :) I actually braved the elements & did the spray painting outside. It was COLD but it worked fine & it didn't take long to do. I used a brush on enamel paint on the hutch & the lights ... but I did that indoors. The fumes were a bit much! Probably lost a few brain cells there :)

Tres chic!!! What an awesome job, and with the color highlighted on other pieces in the room, too! You're quite the decorator!

I am impressed that you did this in the snow. You are one talented woman!

And I have to agree with you on the purse. Things just get sucked into the abyss until it's like a Mary Poppins bag!
