Veteran's Day Tribute

Oh! thus be it ever,
when freemen shall stand

Between their loved home and the war's desolation!
Blest with victory and peace, may the heav'n rescued land
Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation.
Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just,
And this be our motto: "In God is our trust."
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

Third Verse of the Star Spangled Banner
- Francis Scott Key

***

It is easy to take liberty for granted, when you have never had it taken from you.
~Author unknown, sometimes attributed to M. Grundler

***

A decoration available to all who serve, but desired by none....

"Let it be known that he who wears the military order of the purple heart
has given of his blood in the defense of his homeland
and shall forever be revered by his fellow countrymen."

Oh, we absolutely take our freedom for granted! In the history of our country, how many have served and how many were lost, so that we could live free.
Very thoughtful post!
